For many clinicians, formal qualifications in echo and ultrasound may be difficult to obtain. However, there is substantial value in attending the various short courses to kickstart learning of basic skills. Attending a course is also a requirement of the FCU component of the FCICM curriculum. Some of the things you may want to consider when selecting a course are:

  • How much scan time do you get?
  • What’s the group size? When scanning, what’s the ratio of participants to instructors / models? (i.e. are you watching most of the time rather than doing?)
  • Human models, simulators / phantoms, or both?

You can find courses on our events calendar (or Google!)
